A window box can be used in many different ways throughout your indoor and outdoor spaces. They are a great tool to use for container gardening.

What is Container Gardening?
Container Gardening refers to growing produce in a pot as opposed to directly into the ground. This can be very useful for city settings, where there is no outdoor space to be planted. A window box can come in a large commercial size, perfect for growing tomatoes or peppers for example. Smaller window boxes are great for herb gardens. They can come indoors during cold weather, so you have fresh herbs all year long.

These containers are a great way to showcase your flowers. Placed under a window, as the name suggests, they create a beautiful focal point, while allowing the fragrant smells to enter your home. Window boxes can be very ornate and detailed, or simple and rustic, with many designs in between.

What Kind to Choose?
Concrete and stone boxes are often heavy and harder to move, but have a wonderful character to their design, perfect for creating focal points. Fiberglass and resin boxes are often more lightweight, and come in many different colors. The one you choose should depend upon your existing décor, the types of plants you want to plant, and your general style.
