Backyard & Garden Waterfalls

Waterfalls
What is a waterfall? Classically, a waterfall is defined as water flowing over the edge of a surface, and falling onto another surface, or into a pool of water below. Waterfalls have fascinated people throughout history, and waterfalls have been seen as places of spirituality and reverence. In our modern urban culture, bringing a touch of nature with a garden or backyard waterfall is a way to bring nature to our homes.

A Waterfall?
A waterfall in the backyard or garden is a great focal point. The sound of falling water, the soft dance of light across a waterfall at night, an irregular surface that breaks up the falling water, it all leads to a serene and calming influence in the backyard or garden. Some people will build a waterfall, but modern materials have made the faux rock waterfall an economic, and visually stunning option for waterfalls in the garden or back yard.

Garden Waterfalls
Nothing brings a garden to life like a waterfall. Modern fiberglass garden waterfalls are basically artificial waterfalls that have the appearance of natural stone. Cast stone garden waterfalls are also available, and while they are heavier, the are a nice alternative for the texture and appearance of carved, natural stone. The majority of garden waterfalls are made of cast stone or fiberglass.

Backyard Waterfalls
Many homes without a formal garden can benefit from backyard waterfalls. Self contained, backyard waterfalls require access to an electrical outlet, but otherwise are free from plumbing with an internal waterfall pump that recycles the water within the backyard waterfall. As with garden waterfalls, the most common materials for backyard waterfalls are cast stone concrete and fiberglass with a faux rock finish.
