PICNIC GAME IDEAS: Blind Crab Race

MATERIALS:

Sixteen-pound paper bags. The boys are blinded with sixteen-pound paper bags over their heads. Then they are turned around rapidly three times, headed in the right direction and instructed to crawl backward, crab fashion as described in the Crab Race. The contestants are so bewildered they are likely to go in almost any direction. The race distance should be of no more than fifty feet. Mule Ride This is a two-boy-team race. One is "mule"; the other is rider. Each mule carries his mount pickaback from the starting line to a goal sixty feet distant. There the rider dismounts and carries the "mule " back to the starting line. First team back wins. Sore Toe If you have a sore toe, you don't walk or run on it, do you? The boys don't in this race either. They hold one foot up with their hands whichever foot has the sore toe and hop the distance of forty feet. The sore-toe foot is held across the good leg just above the knee. This is a two-boy-team race run between lines forty or fifty feet apart. One boy in each team is called the lead-off; the other is the anchor man. The race starts with the lead-off boys running to the second line, touching it, running back and tagging their anchor man. The anchor men then run the same course back and forth, finishing the race. back to picnic games
