About Campania's Glazed and Terra Cotta Planters:
Campania's Campania's Glazed and Terra Cotta Pottery is high fired between 990 (Terra Cotta) and (1000) Glazed degrees centigrade to ensure frost resistance and durability. They are also subjected to rigorous testing in freeze-thaw conditions to ensure quality. Due to the processes used in the manufacturing of our hand-made and hand-glazed
Please note that due to the processes used in the manufacturing of Campania's hand-made and hand-glazed containers, all variations with respect to firing, color, size and crackling are not deemed to be defects but are natural occurrences in the manufacturing process. the glazes on these containers consist of natural, not chemical components and therefore, the final color of the product will vary. This process creates the unique beauty of each pieace. Actual colors may vary from those depicted here.
Why Choose Campania's Glaze and Terra Cotta Containers?
Hand-made containers, like those offered by Campania, absorb far less water because the clay is processed differently. They are frost-resistant if handled correctly. However, because any water held in a pot from rain or melting snow will freeze and expand, any pot made of a non-elastic material is at risk if left outside unprotected in the winter.
Proper planting and Product Care:
It is best to store planters in a dry place out of the elements. However, this is not always possible or practical. Campania's Glazed and Terra Cotta planters are equipped with pre-installed drainage holes to allow for soil drainage. These drainage holes must be kept clear to maintain the longevity of your planter, especially in climates that undergo freeze thaw cycles in the winter. If you are unable to bring a planter in out of the elements, we recommend placing the planter on pot risers; covering the drain holes with a mesh screen or equivalent to keep debris from clogging the openings; filling the bottom of the planter with non-porous drainage material; filling the remainder of the planter with a well-draining soil mix that will not retain water; and lastly, covering the soil with decorative mulch or pine bark to the top rim of the planter to discourage water from pooling on the surface. For indoor use, contact customer care for the appropriate saucer to use.
To clean your Glazed or Terra Cotta planter, we recommend using a mild soapy water. Spray down the surface of the planter where it is dirty and use a lint-free cloth or sponge to wipe the surface. Do not pressure wash, use alcohol based cleaners, apply corrosive cleaners or clean with anything abrasive.
