How to plant your I/O Skinny Crete Container
First determine the watering requirements of your plant and whether you will simply be dropping a grow pot into the I/O Skinny Crete Container or planting directly in it. If using a grow pot and self-watering is desired, use a drill or screwdriver to create a hole 3-4 inches deep through the bottom center of the grow pot. Using a screwdriver, insert the cotton wick into the hole and coil the remainder of the wick into the perforated hollow bottom of the I/O Skinny Crete Container. Fill the saucer with water. If you do not wish your plant to be self-watering, simply drop the grow pot into the container. Because of the configuration of the I/O Skinny Crete Container and unlike conventional saucer systems, you are less likely to over water your plant. The design of the I/O Skinny Crete Container ensures that the grow pot will always be above the water level in the saucer. This is an optimal solution for succulents, cacti and other plants which prefer drier soil conditions. If planting directly into the I/O Skinny Crete Container and self-watering is desired, you should fill the perforated bottom section of the I/O Skinny Crete Container with pea gravel or other appropriate drainage material. Cut the wick to the desired length and thread the wick through the bottom of the planter to the desired height for optimal watering. While holding the wick in the center of the planter, pack dirt around the wick so that it will remain in place when planting. Proceed to plant the container. If you do not wish your plant to be self-watering, fill the bottom perforated section of the container with pea gravel or other appropriate drainage material and plant as usual.
